Over the next few days leading up to this year’s draft, Acme Packing Company will examine the Packers’ history at each current slot for 2019, as well as run down the names of recent picks around the league at the position. This year, the Green Bay Packers have two picks in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Their fist pick in that round comes in at #185 overall, but in team history there’s not much here to choose from. The Packers have chosen at #185 overall just three times, and none of the three players had much of a career in Green Bay.In fact, there have been precious few useful players drafted at 185 by anyone in NFL history. The best player drafted in that slot is likely defensive tackle Jeff Zgonina, whom the Pittsburgh Steelers picked in 1993 at that spot. Zgonina was a useful backup and rotational player in the 1990s, bouncing around with five different teams, but he finally earned a starting job in 2000 with the St. Louis Rams. He started there for three years before signing with the Miami Dolphins, playing four years there before concluding his career with a three-year stint with the Texans. All told, Zgonina carved out an impressive 16-year career Vince Biegel Jersey White , earning a Super Bowl ring with the 1999 Rams. Here’s a look at the players who the Packers selected at 185 and some of the recent names to go off the board in that spot.Packers’ History at #1851955: Charlie Brackins, QB1960: John Littlejohn, B2006: Tyrone Culver, SCulver is the only player in this group with a career that lasted more than one year, though he only made it two years with the Packers (and only was active on gameday during one of those seasons). He caught on with the Miami Dolphins in 2008, however, and carved out a decent five-year run as a backup safety through the 2012 campaign. Recent History at #1852018: Deon Cain, WR, Clemson (Colts)2017: Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida (Browns)2016: DeAndre Houston-Carson, S, William & Mary (Bears)2015: Tyrus Thompson, OT Womens Demetri Goodson Jersey , Oklahoma (Vikings)2014: Robert Herron, WR, Wyoming (Buccaneers)2013: DeVonte Holloman, LB, South Carolina (Cowboys)2012: Ryan Lindley, QB, San Diego State (Cardinals)2011: Greg Jones, LB, Michigan State (Giants) All six of the team’s ERFAs are now either tendered or under contract."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareSharePackers tender all remaining ERFA players for 2019, including Jake Kumerow & Reggie GilbertVincent Carchietta-USA TODAY SportsA few days ago, the Green Bay Packers locked in two of their exclusive-rights free agent players. They signed defensive lineman Fadol Brown to a one-year contract on Thursday before issuing a one-year ERFA tender to tight end Robert Tonyan on Friday evening. Now, the rest of the team’s six-man ERFA class is locked in for 2019.On Monday, news broke that all four of the other players with that free agent status for this season have received their tenders as well. That list includes outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert, wide receiver Jake Kumerow http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-davon-house-jersey , and offensive guards Justin McCray and Lucas Patrick. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported the roster moves.Kumerow’s tender should come as no surprise. He looked poised for a significant role on offense in 2018 through two preseason games, but injured himself on a tuck-and-roll into the end zone and landed on injured reserve to start the season. However, he did return late in the year, catching a long touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers against the Jets in 2018. After earning Rodgers’ praise this summer, Kumerow should at least be in the running for a depth and special teams role in 2019.Gilbert comes back as one of only a few edge rushers on the Packers’ roster with some level of certainty. Kyler Fackrell will enter his fourth NFL season this fall, and his contract will expire in 2020. Meanwhile, Nick Perry remains a candidate for release this week while Clay Matthews is set to be an unrestricted free agent. Gilbert had 2.5 sacks in rotational duty for the Packers last season. The offensive linemen both represent intriguing young players with potential but who appear to be moving in different directions. McCray entered 2018’s training camp as the starting right guard, but poor play early in the season and an injury landed him on the bench in favor of veteran journeyman Byron Bell. Then late in the season, after Bell landed on injured reserve and McCray was back at full health, it was Patrick who took over as the starter. The team will surely look to add more talent at that position in free agency or the draft, but bringing both players back on will ensure some depth and competition at that spot. The tender for an ERFA player is for a one-year contract at the league-minimum salary. Once tendered, the players are free to negotiate for a different deal with their team, but are not permitted to negotiate with other teams in the NFL.
